  Duration: 1 hour; $15; Carnival is a year-round event in this exciting dance class! Get into the dancing and cultural spirit in a fun, introductory lesson. Under the guidance of your expert instructor, you will learn the basic samba passista step, how to carry yourself, and even some advanced techniques and choreography. Burn calories as you tone your legs and core. You'll build strength, increase your coordination and rhythm, and forget all about your stresses and cares. This class is almost as good as a trip to Rio De Janeiro, and definitely less expensive.

• Afro-Brazilian Drumming

  Duration: 1 hour; $15; Come jam to the syncopated, foot-tapping, hip shaking beats of Afro-Brazilian music. Playing either a conga or djembe, this class will teach you how to play the huge variety of styles popular in Salvador, Bahia, such as Samba Afro, Samba Reggae, Samba de Roda, and traditional Candomble rhythms. Learn about Afro-Brazilian music and culture, practice your drumming skills, and make new, like-minded friends. You'll have an amazing time building your coordination and rhythm, not to mention a new sense of community.

  • Join In on a Drum Session of Different Styles of Afro-Brazilian Music

  • Drum along on a Conga or Djembe with Like-Minded Percussionists

  • Learn the Rhythms of Salvador, Bahia--Afro Samba, Samba Reggae, Candomble, Samba De Roda, Etc

  Duration: 75 min; $15; Work up a sweat stepping and shaking it to different styles of Afro-Brazilian dance. Accompanied by either a music track or live musicians, you will learn the fundamental rhythms, steps, and full body movements of orixá, samba reggae, and axé. Burn calories as you tone your legs and core. You'll build strength, increase your coordination and rhythm, and forget all about your stresses and cares. This class is almost as good as a trip to Brazil, and definitely less expensive.
